![]() What about Hex? Most of the time, a Warlock who is only using blasting at a safe distance will want to use Hex, and that's an extra 4.55 damage each round, putting it very close to the damage of Sharpshooter. These numbers are too white-room to be much use. WITH Sharpshooter, it's a +3 to hit but doing 1d6+13 damage per hit, for an average of 16.5, or 49.5, but hitting on 13 or better is a 40% chance to hit, or 19.8 DPR WITH Sharpshooter. So that's 12.68 DPR WITHOUT using Sharpshooter. ![]() The Fighter also has a +8 to hit, doing only 1d6+3 damage per hit, for an average of 6.5, but with 3 attacks/round giving average damage/round of 19.5. So that's 21x.65 or 13.65 DPR under all of the above conditions. +8 to hit vs AC 16 is hitting on an 8 or more, or a 65% chance to hit. The Warlock has a +8 to hit, doing an average of 10.5 Force damage per hit, with two attacks/round, or 21 Force per round if both attacks hit. Neither one is using Hex both are Subclasses that do not interact with their attacks, and I'm ignoring the extra damage from Crits as it's tiny. They're shooting at an arbitrary enemy with an AC of 16. The Fighter is the same race, has a Dex of 17 and instead has the two Feats and the Archery Fighting Style. The Warlock is a Tasha's Custom Lineage and took, oh, Fey-Touched at Lv 1 for +1 Cha at Lv 5, their Cha is 20. My assumptions here: Let's look at Lv 5 characters. This is so White-Room that it has a measured albedo of 1.25, though. * What Subclasses are you looking at here? Or are we assuming that Subclasses, in this case, don't apply?īut I guess I can take a swing at the math. * Will you make any other assumptions regarding Advantage? * What kind of AC are the targets? This is very important where Sharpshooter is concerned. * Are you assuming the Warlock is going to use Hex? It's kind of a thing for them. * If you're assuming the Fighter has the Archery Fighting Style, this should be called out. * How often are you assuming that the Crossbow Expert Fighter can use their Bonus Action attack? Bonus Actions get used by a lot of other things by some classes Fighters are often among them. * Is there a specific level you are looking at here? While number of dice increases at the same rate per level, it does matter that the Fighter needs to spend two ASIs to get those Feats, and therefore the Warlock can hit Cha 20 before the Fighter hits Dex 20, but that detail vanishes quickly. This is a math problem, but you need more info to crunch the math.
